SERVE GOD, LOVE PEOPLE
At Acworth United Methodist Church, we want to serve our community well. Loving the community of Acworth is the foundation of our missional work. We offer a food pantry that serves 160 families each week and gives almost 100,000 pounds of food each year. Each week a host of volunteers unload food from Atlanta Food Bank and outside sponsors, they pack boxes with weekly provisions for families and load them into vehicles. Acworth UMC is a host for the Family Promise, providing meals, housing and hospitality 3-4 weeks per year for homeless families.
Next Gen Ministries, our children & youth, work with the congregation to sponsor area schools providing snacks, weekend food bags, and personal items that prepare at-risk students for success. The church also partners with Cobb County schools to provide Christmas presents through Angel Tree.
Acworth UMC sends Early Response Teams to disaster sites around the south along with other churches from the North Georgia UMC Conference.
In partnership with the American Red Cross, Acworth UMC hosts 4 blood drives a year and welcomes our community to donate blood. Volunteers are needed to work at the welcome desk and refreshment table during the blood drives. You can support this ministry by donating blood and inviting those you know to donate blood. Our goal is to collect 60 pints of blood at each drive.
