SERVE GOD, LOVE PEOPLE
At Acworth United Methodist Church, we believe faith is meant to be lived out, not just talked about. That's why service isn't a once-a-year event here — it's a rhythm of who we are. Every week, our doors open not just for worship, but for our neighbors in need. Whether you're looking for help or looking to help, there's a place for you.
Our food pantry serves more than 160 families each week and distributes nearly 100,000 pounds of food each year. Dedicated volunteers unload deliveries from the Atlanta Community Food Bank and other sponsors, pack boxes with weekly provisions, and help load them into vehicles for families.
Margie’s Closet opens twice a month to provide clothing and hygiene items to our food pantry families, offering dignity and support to neighbors in need. Volunteers collect donations, sort through them and set them out for our families.
NextGen Ministries—our children and youth—partner with the congregation to support local schools by providing snacks, weekend food bags, and personal care items that help prepare at-risk students for success. We also work with Cobb County schools to provide Christmas gifts through the Angel Tree program.
In partnership with the American Red Cross, Acworth UMC hosts four blood drives each year and welcomes the community to donate. Volunteers greet donors and serve refreshments, helping create a warm and welcoming environment. You can support this ministry by donating blood and encouraging others to do the same. Our goal is to collect 60 pints at each drive.

Food Pantry
Open weekly. Tuesdays at 11:00 am. Hunger doesn't stop, and neither do we. Acworth UMC Food Pantry provides groceries and essentials to individuals and families across Acworth every week, no questions asked. If you're facing a hard season, we're glad to help. If you'd like to give back, we always need hands to sort, pack, and distribute — and donations to keep our shelves full.

Margie's Closet Clothing Pantry
Open every other week. Tuesdays at 11:00 am. A warm coat, a clean shirt, shoes that fit — these are small things that make a big difference. Our Clothing Pantry offers free clothing and hygiene items to anyone who needs it, every other week. We accept gently used clothing donations year-round and welcome volunteers to help sort and organize.

Red Cross Blood Drives
Held quarterly. Next Drive is November 8, 2026 from 8:00 am - 1:00 pm. Four times a year, we partner with the American Red Cross to host a blood drive right here at Acworth UMC. One donation can save up to three lives — it's one of the simplest, most direct ways to serve your community. Appointments are encouraged but walk-ins are always welcome.

More Ways to Serve
Missions at Acworth UMC go beyond our regular pantries and blood drives. We're always looking for people willing to give their time, skills, or resources — whether that's a Saturday morning, a box of canned goods, or a standing volunteer commitment. No contribution is too small.
Margie's Closet Coat Drive
September 27 - October 25, 2026
Collecting new and gently used winter coats in October (mens, womens, and childrens)! Racks will be placed in the Gathering Area for donations.
Thanksgiving Grocery Gift Card Drive
October 18 - November 15, 2026
Each year the Acworth UMC Food Pantry provides gift cards to each family who comes the week before Thanksgiving. This allows each family to purchase their protein or other items to help them celebrate Thanksgiving. Goal is to collect 225 cards!
Angel Tree Supporting McCall Elementary
November 15 - December 13, 2026
Angels will be placed on tree on Sun, November 15. This is a cherished mission partnership with our local elementary school. We receive Angels with specifics for clothing and shoe sized and some specific wishes from each child. 1st come, 1st served. Please return gifts by December 13.
Ready to get involved? Contact our missions team and we'll help you find the right fit.
