Well, August has come and gone, but we had a great new series that we started here at Acworth UMC. Every Sunday in August we had a Survivor game. We had 6 tribes lead by our Youth Leadership Team. We had several different types of challenges that our tribes competed in and the winning tribe would receive points. Along with the challenge winners, tribes could get points for having perfect attendance, bringing guests, having an offering and for the tribe that was the most spirited. We had a great month and we had huge numbers where at least two weeks we had over 80 youth in attendance. So proud of our Church!!

MOMENTUM!! On October 22-24 we are going to the Momentum Retreat. We will have a total of 35 youth going and we only have 5 spots left. This is going to be an amazing retreat where God will be present. For more information please go to www.momentumretreat.com.

WESLEY WALK! If you can’t go to our Momentum retreat, then you can go to the annual Wesley Walk for Others on October 23. For more info please see Wes Sorrells or David Hall.

MUSIC MINISTRY

The M&M’s is beginning it’s second year. It is a group that combines music and missions. The goal of this group is to take their music out into the community. We have made several changes this year. First of all the rehearsal day has been changed to Sunday afternoons from 4:30-5:30. They can then go to youth activities following rehearsal.
The grade levels for this group has been changed to include 7th through 9th graders. There are plans to take this group on a mini tour this Spring. In order to do this we need a few more singers. Please come and see what M&M’s is all about.

Vicki Frey directs our various handbell groups. There are groups for all age levels and ability levels. If you have been wanting to give handbells a try, now is the perfect time. Vicki would be happy to give you information on the different groups. They have a wonderful time and would love to have you come ring with them. You can contact Vicki by calling the church office.

Yes, it’s still really hot outside and the kids have just started back to school, but at AUMC Christmas music is beginning to fill the hallways. All of our choirs are back in session and starting to work on Christmas music. Dan Martin and the Chancel Choir members invite you to come join them on Wednesday nights. Perhaps you’re just not sure if you want to commit to Chancel Choir for a year. That’s ok. We invite you to join us and sing through Christmas and see how you like it.

The 9:30 service is a contemporary praise and worship service. The music is led by the Praise Team directed by Diane Taylor. We are looking for more singers and musicians for the fall. This group is by audition only. If you play an instrument or sing and you are interested in joining the Praise Team , either as a regular or substitute, you can contact Diane Taylor at diane@acworthumc.org or 770-966-1850. She would be happy to talk to you and arrange a time for you to meet with her and the Praise Team.
The team also invites you to come to a 9:30 service and worship with us on Sundays in the Sanctuary.
