IBM (In-Between Ministry)
for kids 3rd - 5th grade. This is a time of fellowship, devotion, learning and FUN activities for kids who are old enough to study and understand more in depth lessons and conversations. We are studying Paul’s journey in the book of Romans this year. We have great field trips and lock-ins and we’re going on the S.C.R.E.A.M. retreat in May! Join us!
COMMUNITY OUTREACH
The Children's and Family Ministry at Acworth UMC finds many opportunities to serve the community. We lend a hand to Acworth Parks and Recreation during their community Easter Egg Hunt by providing Christian crafts and activities, and we provide a live Nativity Scene, free popcorn, advent calendars and more to the community during the City of Acworth’s annual "Santa is Coming to Town" activity. IBM clears litter from the lake path. Our 5th graders go to MUST and to the Roberts School during the week of Vacation Bible School to help pack summer lunches, clean up the grounds, build bird houses, and anything else that is needed. This gives our kids an opportunity to be exposed to mini-missions projects that help our community. |
ANGEL WINGS MINISTRY
For our children with special needs, we offer our “Angel’s Wings” classes at both 9:30 and 11:00am each Sunday. Pre-registration is required to ensure proper leader to student ratio and to provide and prepare for each child. These classes are intended for children functioning on a mild/moderate scale. We are blessed with this opportunity to present God's love to all the children attending Acworth UMC. As this ministry has grown, we have truly felt God's presence. We have learned that while meeting the needs of these and all children, we must strive to focus on their gifts. God has granted all of HIS children gifts--we must make it a point to search for each gift and put it to work for God's glory. Contact Darlene more information.
We are blessed once again with the opportunity to offer two special needs summer camps during our regular summer camps. This ministry began in the summer of 2004 and has continued to serve many children with special needs in our 3-day camps offered two times each summer. Our camp dates for this summer are 6/29-7/1 and 7/6-8. Watch for registration dates to open in mid-April.
