During worship services the Nursery is staffed with loving and trained staff and volunteers. The staff has CPR, a national background check and safe sanctuaries training. Infants and toddlers sing songs and play with toys. Preschoolers partake in lessons learning a monthly Bible memory verse and weekly Bible stories through crafts and games. Through hands-on active learning, kids are engaged in Bible lessons that bring the scriptures to life.
Using the Jesus Storybook Bible kids see how God’s love is woven through the Old and New Testaments.
Emergent readers learn how to use their Bible to find God’s truth by finding chapters and verses and the order of the books through games and activities.
As kids develop from concrete to abstract leaners, life application of Biblical principles becomes the lesson focus. Music, mission projects and current events are used to teach God’s grace.
Kids attend worship with parents the 1st Sunday of the month to experience the wonder of worship. Other Sundays, after the children’s moment, children experience worship in McClure Chapel where lesson teach kids to trust God no matter what, to make the wise choice and to treat others the way they want to be treated.
Quest meets the 2nd & 4th Sunday nights from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. Down Under (Entrance D9) for games and activities designed specifically for 3rd through 5th grade students to reinforce Bible truths. This season we are focusing on what the Lord requires of us: to do justice, to love mercy and to walk humbly with our God.
Deuteronomy 6:4-7 tells is that we are to teach God’s WORD to children while they sit at home, walk/drive along the road, when they lie down and when they get up. Parents have a HUGE responsibility in the spiritual life of their children. Acworth UMC exists to partner with parents in this endeavor. Sunday school classes, Nursery, JR Church, Quest, Preschool Clubs, special events are all designed to lead children in a closer relationship with God.
Every lesson, song, scripture memory verse, game, craft, mission project, prayer experience, retreat, and fun activity strives to bring God’s WORD to life. Our prayer is that each activity opens up conversation between parents and kids at home. By partnering together, we can strengthen the faith of the child and the family to build a firm foundation of belief in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.
